Stephanie Murray

There are some people that you meet in your lifetime that not only make an impact but also whom alter the way your experience your life. Shane Tindall has been one of those people in my life. Shane is not only a trainer, but a mentor to keep you improving. His dedication and personal commitment to the industry surpasses anyone that I have met.

I began training with Shane approximately one year ago. Having been a so called "fitness freak" my whole life, my goals where not the usual goals of losing weight or toning up. What I needed was for somebody to challenge me further and ensure I reached my potential. That is what Shane has done.

One of the things I had always been afraid of was the water. I had never learned to swim. I was terrified of beginning, but also eager to take on a new challenge. On my first visit to the pool I could not even swim two metres. It was through patience and persistence from Shane that I began to learn to swim. He never gave up on me through a very slow process, encouraging all the way. I simply could not have done it without him. It has been one of my biggest accomplishments so far and I really did not have the confidence to do it alone. For somebody that is physically good at most other things it was a huge physiological challenge. Shane got me in to the right "head space" and ensured that I achieved my goal.

Outside the pool I have trained with Shane both running and cycling. Being an accomplished athlete he is an inspiration to train with. He leads through knowledge and experience and is an incredible motivator. My best runs are often with him as I feel able to push myself that much further knowing that he believes in my ability and gets a real buzz out of seeing me achieve. His personal achievements could leave anyone intimidated but one of the things I admire most about his style is that he is completely down to earth and could not make you feel more comfortable.

Resistance and strength training is the third thing that I have done with Shane. Not being a person that does a lot of weights I am always increasingly amazed that I am able to push as hard as I can when training with Shane. Again he believes I can do it and I don't want to let him down - so I do it!

There are certain qualities I believe that are essential in a great trainer

APPROACH

Personal and attentive, Shane makes the person he is training feel very much like they are the most important client. His focus is always on the client and he is not distracted by what is going on around him.

ATTITUDE

Shane is very very positive. His "can do" attitude rubs off on his clients. Shane's persona is one that makes me feel that not only do I not want to let myself down but I also don't want to let Shane down. He very much fosters self belief.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Shane is always on time and organised. Never hesitating and always seems to have a plan or what fits in to the time allowed.

KNOWLEDGE

Shane is the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever had. I have learned a lot from him. He can always answer my questions and seems sure of his ground. If I did ask him a question he did not know he would take the trouble to find the answer, such is his thirst for knowledge.

PROFESSIONALISM

Shane is always a complete professional. Well turned out, prompt and business like. He practises what he preaches - all of that and more. There is a special ingredient in his personality that give him an edge over any other trainer I have had.

He has a great desire to achieve in his chosen field and is results and goal driven.

I wish Shane well and know he will continue to excel in his business
